As I recall it, Roy Jones was awarded ”the best boxer award” in Seoul in an attempt to undermine the horrific decision.
Has it ever before or later been awarded to a silver medalist?

As for myself, I do remember being upset when I watched Holyfield being DQ.
And I can’t argue against “The Combination” being rated as the baddest guys here.

It’s a good thing Patterson defeated Johansson in 1960, as “Ingo” said he never would have defended the title against Liston because of the latter’s involvement in the IBC.
Otherwise, we would likely have seen the Heavy Title being lifted from Johansson to Clay [i.e. Ali], and a non-champ as Liston probably wouldn’t had been discussed here.

    An anecdote about Johansson-Clay:
Clay acted as a sparring partner for Johansson but got dismissed:
Johansson: “he was a coward, just backpedaling” so we fired him.
Clay: “I was dancing and he couldn’t hit me” so they fired me.
