For your information the fighters of the 1950's make these moderns look like spastics, Boxers were better back then and tougher, although I wouldn't rate Marciano in the same breath as a Willie Pep or Sugar Ray Robinson but he was THE BEST Heavyweight of the entire decade and the gap between him and 2nd is W I D E. Fact is the Heavyweight division has always been the least talented division in boxing, big useless lumps most of them. Last thing I will bother to mention.............. race is meaningless inside the ring, if you think a certain creed is simply just superior to all others then you are a tool and incredibly misguided.
I gotta dispute that,,, marciano would not have smashed mercer or ike,,,
Way too big and skilled and durable,,, both those guys had monster chins in their prime,,,
    I think they smash marciano,,,

but everything else in your post i mostly agree with

True but Marciano didn't fight many guys smaller than him, he did fight a few large chaps who were certainly tough, some had touted chins as well. We can only conjecture about those matchups but I don't know of anyone who thinks those two were as good as the Rock. I see three amazing abilities that Marciano had, of all HW's to ever be champion Rocky had the most unbelievable stamina, he was as fit as any HW ever, the man was a machine, his determination to win is beyond anyone I have seen or read about in the division. His chin is the best of any HW champions, and his power in his blows is right up among the top 5 p4p boxers to step in the ring. his fourth asset was his mind, he had tunnel vision inside the ring, he was boxings equivalent of an English Staffordshire Bull terrier and he had a body like a staffy too. With all these qualities I just cannot believe there are fans out there who dislike Rocky. Of all HW champions to ever live, I would have to say that Rocky was the nicest guy outside the ring (although he was as stingy with money, so you wouldn't have gotten too many free beers at the pub from him). He was a clean living fighter who as far as I know never broke a law in his life apart from the time during WWII when he knocked out a very large Australian soldier in a London pub (true story, the Aussie was some thug who enjoyed bashing Pommy and American soldiers on his time off until he picked a fight with a very young baby faced much smaller American Marciano, I bet that guy never picked a fight with a guy from Brockton after that).

The one example that can be examined in regards to Marciano against bigger, stronger fighters is Rex Layne. He had a couple of inches of height on Marciano as well as about 10 inches of reach. He punched hard and was a very dangerous contender who had taken Bob Satterfield bombs in a knockout victory as well as upsetting Walcott. Marciano knocked him out, brutally I may add, with one devastating right.

Was Jersey Joe Walcott a heavyweight? The last time I checked he was a 190 pound fighter. So I didn't ask you if you thought he was tough because he fought a 190 pound 40 year old fighter. I said did he face guys like Foreman, Lewis, Tyson, Bowe, Tua, either Klitschko brother and win or knock them out.

I also didn't ask you how much Moore weighed when he faced Marciano. I told you Archie Moore turned pro at 150 or so odd pounds and stayed their for 10 plus years. It is like James Toney weighs well over 200 pounds but is that his natural weight class.

I also didn't ask you do you believe he had heart either. Getting knocked out cold has nothing to do with heart. If a guy hits you and you go to sleep then you go to sleep.

So nothing you said had anything to do with my post. Again he never got hit by guys like Foreman, Lewis, Tyson, Tua, ect ect ect so saying because he had heart proves nothing. He never knocked out true modern sized heavyweights besides a washed up weak chin Joe Louis who was probably not a modern sized heavyweight to begin with.

When I made this thread I figured I wouldn't get a intelligent answer. Marciano fans are the worse boxing fans. Even worse than Manny Pacquaio delusional fans.
I'd mock your ******ity but it's not nice to make fun of ******s.
