Do you agree that the previous era has to be beaten by the new era?

I feel like I'm losing a little bit of interest in Boxing the past couple of years. I knew the inevitable passing of the torch would happen, as it has been going on since the beginning of the sport. But it seems like the transition has been going at a rapid pace the last two years alone.

To keep interest and get a breath of fresh air for the next generation, the aging top fighters have to have good fights against the new generation, preferably lose even if it's painful for fans. However, I feel like this has not happened in an interesting manner. I can't seem to care much for the new guys like Trout, Canelo, Donaire, Ward etc. Whereas as recent as the mid to late 00s I was hooked to any up and coming fighter. Do you feel the same?

I don't feel that way at all. I will watch Canelo, Trout, Donaire, Ward, or any of the top fighters in the same way I've always watched boxing as a fan. Those fighters have enough challenges within their own generation to keep me interested. I haven't lost any interest at all.

Also, I have watched MMA and personally I find it generally more boring to watch than boxing has ever been.

Canelo is too busy fighting Jr welterweights. Never fought a top 5 fighter yet he's champ.

Trout vs Cotto was an exciting fight. Once Trout schools Canelo hopefully Floyd will actually fight him. That's exciting.

Martinez, GGG Chavez Jr and Quillin have brought life back at 160.

Ward is the next great Light Heavyweight star I just wish he'd fight Hopkins instead of waiting for Chavez Jr to come up and pointless rematches with Kessler Froch 2 winner. Shoot I would love Ward vs Pascal if Pascal knocks out Bute.

140 is better then ever and Broner is on his way into the fire after paulina.

and technically Hatton was king at 140 and Bradley didn't have to beat him to become king

I did from about the mid 2000s, like you when De La Hoya was still active and stopping Mayorga and Vargas, then became interested again around 2008, which is coincidentally Oscar's last career fight. I was watching mostly De La Hoya and Barrera, had only seen Pacquiao's first fight with Barrera then and came back to the sport when I saw more of Manny on HBO and heard of guys like Yuriorkis Gamboa and Miguel Cotto. Tried to follow prospects online for a while but then decided to stick with the ones that became established stars who were televised regularly as I started watching MMA again as well in 2008, for the first time since about UFC 6. So I kind of feel the same, but not exactly, as I usually get excited for the next Mayweather, Pacquiao, Cotto, Gamboa and even Kirkland, Ward fights and Hopkins, for as long as he sticks around in the sport. So I'm not watching any boxing match on TV like I used to, but I still have some interest and will watch any MMA match at least once usually with the major promotions.

Kessler, Froch and Martinez I like to watch too. Now that I've finally had a chance to watch Ward, I'm becoming a big fan.
