It's also a very tight call for me who ranks highest, but amply because Marciano's reign lasted longer and the fact that he has more good names on his résumé than Frazier, I would probably rank him one or two spots above. But it's very tight.

Whats the point of the threads question? Sound like apple & oranges!!!
Ezzard Charles gives anyone problems and he was capable of efeating Joe!
Joe Walcott like wise with Charles and he als was capable!!
Both of these men had tons of experience against top quality contenders and both could box and punch! Joes style might be a negative against these types of fighters but I won't say he couldn't come out on top!
All three were terrific competitors and I remember Oscar Bonivena give Joe a great fight in their first bout! Jow winning a split in New York was big back then!
Joe certainly fought the better contenders than Rocky did and I didn't mention Louis because its unfair to. Louis beats all of them when you consider him at his best!
I do pick Rocky over Joe straight up, I think his power comes through just a Big Georges did! It would be one hell of a card with that as a leadliner for sure!!! I'd take Rocky early or by late tko maybe 12 to 14!!! Great fight! Ray

Joe generally moved in one direction so it is conceivable that ezzard could give him troubles as he did rocky.

Some here really need to get off the "size & weight" thing! It just gets ridiculous every other day here! This is another misconception from the Klitz Bros era that size is the first determining issue for a heavyweight!
There is NO weight class for a professional Heavyweight!!! A heavyweight could weigh 171lbs, get over the "big is better" BS!!!
Some of the greatest Heavyweight Fighters and Champions were under 205lbs!
The bigger guys like Ali down to Tyson were actually at their best at lighter weights!! Ali weighed 225 to 230 but his best was at 210-215, Tyson at 225 was nothing like Tyson at 210 to 215, Prime usually is consistant with age and weight and all the great fighters other than Big George were better lighter!
Anyone can fight at heavyweight weighing whatever they want to!!!! Ray.
