Yes, "Boy Named Sue," written by Shel Silverstein, one of the few ***ish songwriters who had a lot of country hits. He wrote "25 Minutes to Go" (which Johnny sang on one of his prison albums) and a ton of stuff for Dr. Hook including "Sylvia's Mother."

Here's Johnny's first wife. A lot of Southerners were positive Vivian Liberto was black, but she said she was 100% Italian. Rosanne Cash is one of the children of the Cash-Liberto marriage. Second wife of course was June Carter.

Looks to have some black heritage, possibly lied about her race because of conditions back then.

        - -Is that why folks lie about their heritage and race today, even undergoing lightening and darkening procedures?

Jack Johnson even affected an English accent to be seen as more erudite and educated than his Texas accent suggested.
