What are your opinions on him? He beat Carpentier, but it was on home turf...is there any footage of it? Looks like he could punch, 48 kos in 57 wins.

I don't know a lot about him other than that he was a high quality fighter. I also know that his brother Mike was very good, but Mike missed out on fighting Darcy, if Mike had beaten Darcy he would be considered as a very great MW. The same goes for Tommy, if he'd beaten dempsey, there's film of the Dempsey Vs Tommy Gibbons fight and I've seen it about a dozen times. Tommy was tough, man he took every punch from Dempsey and just kept moving forward, and went the distance, that fight was a financial disaster for the town that held the fight, after paying Kearns a huge sum, the town in Montana went bankrupt, I am led to believe that the place became a ghost town because of that fight. It wasn't that uncommon, I can think of a few fighters from WW to LHW in those times who were known to K.O. HW's......Jimmy Clabby, Eddie McGoorty, Ted Kid Lewis, Sam Langford, Young Peter Jackson, George K.O. brown, Bob Fitzsimmons, Joe Choynski, Tommy Gibbons, Les Darcy, Stanley Ketchel, Jack Dillon, Ron Richards & others...... I think even WW Tommy Uren had K.O.'d HW's,... But I know he knocked out Clabby and McGoorty......... and as we know Micky Walker had some success against HW's, although as far as I know he never knocked out a HW.Originally posted by Pastrano View PostComment
