One thing not mentioned is after Joe beat Ali he had a couple of very easy defenses(Daniels and a VW named Stander) in the nearly two years before the Foreman fight. He put on weight during that time and fought 9-12 pounds heavier than he did at his best fighting weight(Ali #1 and previous fights). Not saying Foreman wouldn't have beaten him anyways but it surely did not help.
that's where it would get difficult for some to claim which one did him more harm. the ali fight put some damage on him, which kept him inactive for the rest of the year. then those 2 fights in between happened in the first half of 72, again inactivity, and then he had foreman in early 73. you can say the ali fight and inactivity helped foreman beat frazier faster, but i really think the foreman loss sealed the deal on frazier's career. lost to ali twice and again to foreman after that, never was the same fighter in some people's eyes.

Foreman. That was like getting hit by a train. Ali did a lot of damage, but those Big George uppercuts were a special kind of damaging.

I dont think the results of any of his future fights would be different regardless of how much those fights took out of him. Frazier is never beating an Ali who isnt ring rust and he always would be KOed by Foreman.
