Ali has a very solid case for it. I would add rocky Marciano too, although past their best he beat Louis, Charles, Moore, and walcott. Keep in mind these guys were still contenders (Walcott was a champion) when marciano beat them. Walcott and Charles espescially were the guys to beat when Marciano smoked them.

True Hagler was a great boxer, but past his prime by the time Leonard fought him. In fact, that's why Leonard fought Hagler when he did, because he knew he was past his prime and SRL has even admitted this himself so great fighter yes, but Hagler still in his prime at that time, probably not, although it was still a close fight.

If Hagler was past prime, so was Leonard.

In-fact, let's hypothetically say that Hagler was past prime. In continuum, Leonard was past prime and only had 1 fight in 5 years, thus Leonard was suffering from inactivity.

Which makes his win over Marvin even more impressive.

Let's not forget Leonard's eye problems, as well.

2 can play this game, son.

Yes, I know and agree about those Leonard points. But the fact that Hagler was challenging Leonard for years and Leonard waited until Hagler was ready to retire to finally fight him still makes Leonard look bad. Leonard has admitted this himself. Watch the Sportscentury bio on Hagler, Leonard mentions it. I don't care what anyone says, it's a good win for Leonard because they were both past prime, but not a great win because Leonard waited so long to fight him. Hagler was calling him out even before Leonard's first retirement.
