In your opinion, was Holyfield a Juicer?

little off topic: did Toney actually really use steroids for his injury or was it to get bigger and stronger for Ruiz? i mean it's not like him to do that, right? he's always been the kind of fighter to use his elusive style and his speed. but then again, Ruiz was a pretty dominant dude, right?

I think performance enhancing drugs are very rampant in pro sports. The financial rewards are so great that for fringe athletes the temptation is to great.
I am against cheating but if for instance I was a minor league base ball player not quite good enough to make the majors the millions of dollars to be made in one season alone would be very tempting. Plus I could justify it to myself because I think the other players are using them. I am also quite sure that if I did not have enough finances for the peds there are people willing to provide them for a % of my Major league salaries. Gene doping is also on the scene so It is really hard to stop pro athlete's from using them.
So yes I think Holyfield and many other boxers use performance enhancing drugs of some sort.

I wouldn't be shocked if ANY fighter was busted for 'rhoids.....or any athlete in general for that matter. It's just a sad testiment to athletics over the past 30 years that performance enhancers seem to have become the rule rather than the exception. I suppose it shouldn't be a surprise, though, since there's so much money at stake in sports post 1980 that athletes wouldn't try to get any kind of "edge" they could. Not surprising but still sad.

that does actually show how good fighters like Mayweather are, they use their boxing brain to adapt to the fight. Yes Mayweather is really fast (a natural gift or steroid enhanced, we'll never know as with every other athlete) but his real key strength is that he knows how to fight any opponent defensively and counter superaccurately. superior accuracy is done with practice, steroids can't help too much with that.

THAT stayed the same, the rule of boxing knowledge, what changed was the usage of steroids of course, fighters became bigger, stronger, faster, more endurance, etc. etc. etc.
thus, old school fighters like Mayweather, James Toney, Sugar Ray Robinson, Charley Burley, Bernard Hopkins, Roy Jones (he knew how to beat his opponents, even though he relied way more on his physical gifts of course) that dissect and analyze their opponent to name a few ruled over the power punchers, the super fast fighters, the fighters with the super endurance etc.
Mayweather just gets the spotlight for that 0 i guess.
