It's funny looking back today at how the radio was encased in this beautifully finished very large wood cabinet that served as furniture, and was probably the pride and centre of the home.

The family hearth for a few decades. FDR's fireside chats changed America.

They say in the Great Depression families gather around the radio with a picture of the President hanging over or on the radio.

African-American families had both the President and a picture of Joe Louis.

So what was the winning name? Or are we supposed to guess?

A 1935 Model 48 2 door Coupe 5 Window cost $495.00 in 1935. That $125 radio must have been a huge expense back then. I don't think you could find a radio today that would cost $125, and $125 in 1935 would have an adjusted value of $2,500 today.

That's two cars if you can name the ******** dog. - The $2500 is about the price of a complete home entrainment system today. So I guess things are pretty much the same for the common man. Just enough disposable income to buy the latest technology, probably on credit, even then.

I’m kind of relieved, I thought this was going to be a similar situation to H.P. Lovecraft’s cat.
