    Light Welter, underrated?

You don't much hear about Pryor or Locche or Carevantes, or Ortiz, or any of the great LWW being discussed.

I been looking at them again and kind of feel like I felt when I took a new look at LHW. These are some under appreciated master boxers this division's seen.

Who are your favorite LWWs and how do you feel about them all-time and p4p?

From Barney Ross and Tony Canzoneri to Arguello, Crawford and Bradley, some good talent at 140, whether they were passing through or holding court.

I like Pryor. Might check out some Locche, the Untouchable. What about Kosta?

I'm gonna give JCC a mention here, I feel like he was at his best at JWW. As far as someone who held court at the weight class, gotta look at Cervantes.

Also, there has been a been a couple of very good Italians at this weight class: with Loi and Arcari

Maybe a personal bias but I always feel if you are going to put Barney Ross on a list (and he deserves to be on many) that you should include Jimmy McLarnin too.

One of the best matched trilogies ever fought.

P.S. Check out the judges scoring for the first Ross-McLarnin fight. Either a totally different approach to scoring or the fix was in. Very strange numbers.

Good call, McLarnin doesn’t get talked about nearly enough. A few months ago I was watching an old time boxing flick and he made a cameo in a couple of scenes in the gym, skipping rope I think. Can’t recall the movie, may have been The Set Up.

Chavez and Aaron Pryor were the best 140 lbers ever for my money.

Who did Pryor beat other than Arguello? And he, Arguello was a blown up featherweight who was at his best at Jr. LW.

If Arguello had been a natural LWW his punch would have taken Pryor out two separate times in their first match-up.

I don't see any other fights that places Pryor in an elite category maybe Kim, but one can't trust an impressive mostly Asian record, we just can't assess the competition.

I can see how one might view Pryor as devastating when thinking head to head fights because he often looked awesome but there is virtually no resume to speak of.
