Gene Tunney is one of the greatest scientific Heavyweight Champions ever.
I see Tunney moving, moving, and more moving the entire 15 rounds.
I believe Tunney would be moving and effective with the left jab,and sneaking over the right hand.I see Holly trying to catch him,and going to the body early in the fight.I don't see him hitting Tunney with clean shots to the head the 1st half of the fight. We also need to remember Tunney is very, very tough and can take a good pounding and a good punch.I see Tunney winning the early rounds, and the 1st part of the middle rounds.Tunney out in front 7-1 after 8 rounds.
I believe Holly would begin to cut the distance and catch Tunney on the ropes and in the corners the 2nd half of the fight. But Tunney to be able to avoid most punches to the head.Holly would land good body punches and slow Tunney down the 2nd half of the fight.Tunney's toughness and ability to counter and tie-up Holly would keep him out of real trouble.
I see Tunney out in front 8-5 after 13 rounds.I see Holly coming on strong in the late rounds. His weight and strength being to much for Tunney. But Tunney surprizingly taking everything Holly has to offer.
Great analysis there! Probably not too far from the truth too although I'm comparing the cruiserweight Holyfield with Tunney.
I've got a feeling the heavyweight Holyfield may be able to turn a decision his way just based on the slight increase in power and weight in the clinches. I do rate Evander's speed and think that he'd find Tunney's chin with some regularity............but I dont think he'd stop Gene.
