    When KO Kings Collide

    I'm thinking about some of the matchups that featured two true bombers going head to head......

    Two fights that come to mind right away are Gerald McClellan vs. Julian Jackson, & Carlos Zarate vs. Alfonso Zamora...

    Anyone else ?

      Here's a few that immediately come to mid;

      Tommy Hearns vs. Pipino Cuevas, Sonny Liston vs. Cleveland Williams, Rodrigo Valdez vs. Bennie Briscoe (also Briscoe vs. 'Cyclone' Hart), Edwin Rosario vs. Jose Luis Ramirez, Juan 'Kid' Meza vs. Jaime Garza, Bob Fitzsimmons vs. Tom Sharkey, Alexis Arguello vs. Ruben Olivares, Sam Langford vs. Stanley Ketchel

      Ummm? Yeah, that's a few that immediately come to mind and I really should stop, because the matchups keep popping into me ole' head.

        i dont think arguello was considered a bomber. by the list you made we could include NAZ- kevin kelly but kelly was'nt considered that much of bomber although he could hit.

          Yoko....

          Arguello is one of the best punchers in history.....while Ike Ibebabuchi really wasn't.

          Yogi.....AWESOME stuff.

            i know alexis could throw but was he considered the big hitter when he fought pryor or mancini? i never heard of arguello being called a big hitter like hearns or jackson. ike may not be a big hitter in the history books but he was a big puncher

                He was considered one of the biggest hitters in the sport, when he faced both Pryor & Mancini.....even though he was fighting them past his best weight.
                Why do you think he was such a huge favorite to beat Pryor ?
                It was because Pryor was considered easy to hit, & most thought Arguello would light him up with his beautiful powershots.
                Even though Kevin Rooney was just a journeyman....the way Arguello iced him (Arguello's last fight before Pryor) with one sweet right hand.....showed Arguello was still devastating at 140.

                Ike Ibebabuchi was a tremendously well-rounded heavyweight...someone I thought could have been a true great. But, people are overrating him as a PUNCHER these days.
                He was good puncher....but it was his all-around game that made him special.
