dude, the book to accompany the documentary is excellent!
i have it in front of me on my desk. it is damn near 500 pages and gets down right descriptive in most every way. it has a very nice photo section in the middle, and covers all aspects of jack's life. very, very informative. it is an absolute must for fans or historians of old school boxing.
i still enjoy reading his autobiography though. pick it up if you can.

My Grandmother met Jack Johnson
My dear departed Grandmother often told me the story of the time she met Jack Johnson in George Street Sydney 1908. She was walking across the road with her father on their way to church when JJ flashed his famous golden smile at her. My Great Grandfather took great umbridge at this affrontery from a black man and proceeded to confront JJ, fortunately for everyone it came to a happy end with no punches thrown. It left me with a great love of the sweet science and all involved.
