IBF welterweight champion Jan Zaveck is going through the toughest training camp of his career. Zaveck is preparing for his upcoming fight against ex-WBC titlist Andre Berto on September 3 in Biloxi, MS. Zaveck is currently in Magdeburg training under Dirk Dzemski.
Among the sparring partners for Zaveck is none other than Rafal Jackiewicz, with whom Zaveck split two hard fought battles in 2008 and 2010. Jackiewicz is preparing for a scheduled WBA eliminator with undefeated British welterweight contender Kell Brook on October 8th in Sheffield.
When Jackiewicz leaves, highly ranked Selcuk Aydin will arrive for more quality sparring. And when Zaveck flies to the United States later this month capable, Colombian Joel Julio will be there waiting. Stablemate Sergey Vartanov is also among the sparring partners.
"This is the toughest training camp that I´ve ever had, states Zaveck, who is very confident that all of this tough sparring will help him beat Berto.
