According to the Tuscaloosa News, WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (33-0, 32KOs) will not require any surgery for the right hand injury that he suffered during his twelve round unanimous decision win over Bermane Stiverne to capture the title on Saturday night from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Wilder saw a surgeon on Tuesday, and the boxer expects to be 100% by March. He will rest and then have a follow-up exam in late February. If all goes well, he should be ready to train hard by early March.
A summer return is targeted for Wilder, according to his managers.
