WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder fully expects to rip open the cut that Tyson Fury sustained last Saturday night in his decision victory over unbeaten prospect Otto Wallin.

Fury sustained a severe cut above his right eye in the third right, from a clean punch, and the cut grew worse as the contest played out.

During the twelve rounds, Fury suffered a second cut on his right eyelid. He was buzzed in the twelfth round, but had no problems lasting until the final bell.

Afterwards, Fury received close to 50 stitches to close the wounds.

It will take a few months for the cuts to fully heal, according to Fury's team members.

The rematch with Wilder is scheduled for a date in February of next year. They fought to a controversial twelve round split draw in December 2018.

Wilder will first have a rematch with Cuba's Luis Ortiz. Wilder stopped Ortiz in the tenth round in March 2018.

Wilder admits that at one point he felt Wallin would get the stoppage win.

“He’s very vulnerable. When he gets hit on the chin - it’s a wrap,” Wilder told Thaboxingvoice. “Otto Wallin was doing a great job up to that point, especially when he cut him over the eye. I thought he was going to get a stoppage. It looked like it was three inches wide and two inches deep.

“That’s the worst cut besides the [Vitali] Klitschko and Lennox fight. That was the worst cut I’ve seen in my life. I can’t wait. I hope they heal well, and I can’t wait to see Mr Fury.

“That’s not my problem if he’s ready or not. He signed the contract. That’s his problem. He better get ready. No matter what he does, when he fights me, [the cut] is going to open right back up. I’m going to pop it right back open. He can get plastic surgery, duck tape or staples, super glue or hot glue, cement glue. Sh*t, he can go get some of that flex glue. It ain’t even going to matter.”
