Estadio Sonora in Hermosillo, Mexico - In a battle for former champions, Hernan “Tyson” Marquez (36-3, 26 KOs) won a lopsided twelve round unanimous decision over Carlos “Olimpico” Tamara (23-8-1, 17 KOs) in a WBO flyweight eliminator. The scores were 119-109, 120-108 and 120-107. Marquez picks up his second victory in a row since being stopped last November by then champion Brian Viloria.
Marquez controlled the fight and dropped Tamara in the fifth round. Tamara was game but he was unable to do any serious damage to Marquez or change the tide of the match.
Aloso on the card, David "Tornado" Sanchez (21-2-2, 16 KO's) stopped Colombian Luis Carlos Leon (15-8-1, 11 KO's) in two rounds.
