TAMPA – Keith “One Time” Thurman (26-0, 22 KOs) remained undefeated by stopping Luis Collazo (36-7, 19 KOs) in in the seventh-round in his hometown of Tampa on the inaugural Premier Boxing Champions on ESPN from the USF Sun Dome.

Thurman was in control for much of the fight, using his combinations and a powerful right hand to hurt Collazo consistently. The former world champion would not go down without resistance however, as he continued to stand toe-to-toe with Thurman and hurt him with a left hook to the body in round five that staggered the hometown favorite.

Thurman regained control of the fight and opened up a cut on Collazo’s right eye in round six. That cut would eventually lead to the stoppage by Collazo’s corner after the seventh round, making the stoppage official at 2:59 in round seven.

“I felt good in there. I’ve been saying I’m an evolutionary fighter and I showed it tonight. I’ve always had power, but tonight was champ versus champ boxing," Thurman said.

“My team is happy and I’m very happy with my performance. I’m looking to continue this incredible streak. I’m 26-0. If you can beat me then beat me.

“He caught me with a left hook uppercut hybrid shot in the fifth and knocked out almost all of my wind. It was an excellent shot by Luis. I endured like a champion though.

“We trained hard for this camp. Luis Collazo, I want to give it up to him. All respect. He’s a great veteran. He came and he fought hard. We kept picking our shots, giving him a little bit of power every round and we broke him down.

“I beat this fighter and I can beat any fighter.

“This is great for me to pull this off at home. There was lots of pressure and hype. I gave it my best and I came out with the win.

“We want anybody that we can get at the top of the welterweight division; Mayweather, Pacquiao, Porter, Khan, Bradley, Maidana."
