Vladimir Hryunov, manager of Khabib Allakhverdiev (19-1, 9KOs), tells krikya360.com that his boxer wants a rematch, as soon as possible, with Jessie Vargas (24-0, 9KOs). This past Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Vargas outpointed Khabib to win the IBO and WBA 'regular' junior welterweight titles. The scores were 115-113, 115-113, 117-111.
Khabib-Vargas was part of the HBO Pay-Per-View undercard to the Manny Pacquiao-Timothy Bradley rematch.
Many of the writers on press row had scored the fight in favor of Khabib, including HBO's unofficial scorer Harold Lederman.
Hryunov, who believes his fighter clearly won a decision, spoke to Top Rank's CEO, Bob Arum, who gave Hryunov "his word" that a rematch would be coming.
"I spoke to Bob Arum. He said I have his word that a rematch will happen. We were honored to be a part of such a huge event and to fight on the same card as Manny Pacquiao, but now we are looking forward to a rematch with Vargas," Hryunov told krikya360.com.
