Count Jesus Soto Karass amongst those excited about his upcoming showdown against Marcos Maidana. The two offense first brawlers square off on September 15th in a Showtime televised fight that takes place on the Canelo Alvarez versus Josesito Lopez undercard in Las Vegas.

BoxingScene was on hand for one of Soto Karass' recent training sessions up in the high altitude of Big Bear Lake where the all action fighter is preparing for the biggest fight of his career.

"I think it is going to be a great fight.  It is going to be a war.  I know Maidana is a good fighter and we will put on a great show for the fans," Soto Karass stated.

Maidana moved up to welterweight for his most recent fight, a one-sided unanimous decision loss to Devon Alexander this past February. Soto Karass said that he didn't see the fight but plans on letting the junior welterweight champion know what the welterweight division is all about.

"Honestly I haven't see Maidana's fight against Alexander.  All I can say is that I am going to welcome Maidana to my weight class, welterweight," Soto Karass told BoxingScene.

The Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico native moved up to the junior middleweight limit in January and was stopped by Gabriel Rosado in their NBC Sports televised fight.  Following the loss, Soto Karass picked up two quick wins and is looking forward to competing as a welterweight again.

"I wanted to try out 154 pounds so I took the fight against Rosado.  I felt slow at that weight so after the fight I decided to move back down. I have gone down to 151 and then 150 in my last two fights as I move back down to 147," Soto Karass explained.

Soto Karass said that it is an honor to be able to fight on Mexican Independence Day weekend and plans on celebrating the holiday with a win over his Argentine rival.

"There isn't a better day to be fighting than on September 15th, Mexican Independence Day.  What is a better way to celebrate Mexican Independence Day than with a win over Maidana?"
