Foxwoods Resort and Casino, Mashantucket - Former four-division champion Roy Jones Jr. (62-8) scored a highlight reel knockout over late replacement Eric Watkins (12-10-2) in the Knockout series main event that aired live on NUVOtv. Roy started out fast landing heavy body shots from the opening bell. He began to really break Watkins down in the 5th round and landed a vicious check left hook to put him down for good in the 6th. The time of the stoppage was 2:59.
The future Hall of Famer has a busy schedule ahead of him as he has fights already lined up on August 29th and September 12th.
Prospect Hylon Williams Jr. (16-1-1) and veteran Jason Litzau (29-3-1) battled to a split draw in their lightweight bout. The scores were 77-75 for Williams, 79-73 for Litzau and 76-76. Williams controlled the early rounds with his boxing and Litzau came on late, trapping Williams in the ropes and landed several hard body shots. Both fighters asked for an immediate rematch after the fight.
In the evening's opening bout from the Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Mashantucket, Conn., local favorite Mike "Machine Gun" Oliver (26-6-1) was upset by Jonathan Arrellano (17-6-2) on the reality show Knockout's live TV card. Oliver was up on all 3 cards when he got caught with a huge right at the end of the 4th round. The local favorite rose to his feet but after being evaluated prior to the 5th round, the ringside doctor deemed Oliver unable to continue. With the victory Arrellano broke a 2 fight losing streak. The official time of the stoppage was 2:59 of the 4th round.
