EBU light heavyweight champion Robert Stieglitz will - as was reported the other day by Igor Lazorin - make a voluntary defence on March 18 in Germany. However, whether or not the opponent will be Igor Mikhalkin still appears to be an open question.
Mikhalkin´s promoter Erol Ceylan stated yesterday (Dec 28) that he hadn´t heard anything. The official challenger for Stieglitz is Swede Erik Skoglund, who has been kept waiting for a long time now.
Ironically both Skoglund and Mikhalkin are being courted by Canadian promoter Yvon Michel to face Artur Beterbiev in an IBF eliminator in February. Beterbiev is ranked at 2, while Skoglund sits at 3 and Mikhalkin is at 7.
MK Event headed by Malamine Koné have announced the full program for the show on January 21 at the Palais des Sports Marcel Cerdan in Levallois through Twitter.
Of note is that former pro, then turned Olympian and AIBA boxer - Matheiu Bauderlique - is now is back in pros and also that Souleyman Cissokho, who just like Bauderlique won a Bronze medal at the Rio Olympics, will make his official pro debut on the show.
Bauderlique, 10-0 in the "real" pros, takes on Belgian Matingu Kindele (9-5) in a fight made at light heavyweight while Cissokho, fighting in the pros at super welterweight, is in against Viguen Gulnazarian (11-0-2).
Topping the bill is EBU super welterweight champ Cedric Vitu (44-2) defending the title against Spaniard Isaac Real (16-1-1).
