The World Boxing Council has ordered a final super bantamweight eliminatory between undefeated two-time Olympic gold medal winner Guillermo Rigondeaux and rising Mexican puncher "King" Rey Vargas (25-0, 20KOs).

The winner will become the mandatory challenger to current champion Julio Ceja, who plans to have a rematch with Hugo Ruiz in 2016.

Vargas, trained by Hall of Fame trainer Nacho Beristain, is quickly rising in the ranks but never faced anyone on the level of Rigondeaux.

Rigondeaux (15-0, 10KOs) was recently stripped of his WBO and WBA world titles for inactivity. He's been out of the ring since last December. The WBO took away his world title and the WBA made him a "champion in recess."

Ceja, who held the interim-world title, was raised to the status of full WBC champion a few days ago, after Leo Santa Cruz vacated his green and gold belt to campaign full-time at featherweight.
