Tijuana, BC - Motivated by his big return to the ring, Tomas Rojas promised to provide a great fight on Saturday at the Municipal Auditorium of Tijuana, as he headlines a show being broadcast by TV Azteca. Rojas (36-13-1, 24 KOs) will take part in a ten round bantamweight clash against Paraguayan living legend Feliciano Dario Azuaga (82-21-2, 67 KOs). Rojas' first bout since losing his super flyweight championship of the World Boxing Council (WBC).
"I want to be world champion, but first I have to beat Azuaga. I appreciate the company Zanfer for having the confidence in me and there are plans for next year to get me a world title challenge, either at bantamweight or super flyweight, and I'm convinced that I can do it," Rojas said.
For his part, Feliciano Dario Azuaga established that he came to Mexico to achieve what could be the biggest victory in a career that spans 105 fights.
"I have boxing in my veins and I do not know when to quit. I am 37 years old and I've been involved in over 100 professional fights, but I still feel good and I still have goals. I came to Mexico to face a great fighter and I know that a win over the Rojas will open many doors for me," he said.
In the co-feature, Enrique "Duende" Bernache (18-2-0, 9 KOs) will face undefeated Raul Hirales (16-0-0, 9 KOs) in a ten round super bantamweight fight.
The "Aztec Princess" Jackie Nava was a special guest at the press conference and wished everyone luck.
