Barclays Center, Brooklyn - For the IBO super bantamweight title, a battle of unbeatens saw Stephen Fulton (18-0, 8 KOs) win a twelve round unanimous decision over Arnold Khegai (16-1-1, 10 KOs). The scores were 116-112, 117-111, 117-111. (photos by Amanda Wescott)
Fulton's jab was the controlling shot of the first round, as were his counters. Khegai was applying pressure and creating bursts to the body when close. The jab of Fulton continued to create problems during the second and third. Khegai was game and trying his best to get inside and let combinations go.
Khegai had a good fourth, as he began to close the distance and was landing solid shots. Fulton came back strong in the fourth and fifth and his jab and counters.
Fulton was able to outwork Khegai in the sixth and seventh. Khegai was unable to get too much going, as Fulton's speed and accurate jab was frustrating him as the contest played out.
They were trading during moments of the eleventh, as Khegai doing better and landing solid shots at close range. Fulton came back in the twelfth, to stick and move for most of the round.
