For Gilberto 'Zurdo' Ramirez the excitement of his first world championship fight continues to grow as the bout nears. The hard punching lefty is less than a month away for facing legendary champion Arthur Abraham for the World Boxing Organization (WBO) on April 9 in the Manny Pacquiao-Tim Bradley Pay per view card in Las Vegas.

“This camp has really gone fast. We have work really hard, with a lot of intensity, but the excitement for the fight has made this camp fun too. We are focus and putting in the work and we will be ready on April 9 to become world champion,” said Ramirez.

Ramirez has been training in Long Beach, California for the fight and has been sparring with young contender David Benavidez and has also travel to the Wild Card in Hollywood to get some sparring in Freddie Roach gym.

Ramirez, 24, of Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico has work very hard to get first world championship opportunity and wants to take advantage of it.

Ramirez and his team promoter Jesus Zapari and trainer Hector Zapari of Zapari Boxing have been coming to southern California to train for the last three years.

“We like setting up camp here in California because we get very good sparring and also because lets us focus just in boxing. This training camp has been very good and we look forward to April 9 and the opportunity to fight for a world championship,” said Jesus Zapari.
