Former lightweight world champion Paulus Moses will return to the squared circle on April 1 in Windhoek, Namibia on an event called “Defending Namibia’s Pride”.

The boxing card, which serves as part of the traditional Independence celebrations in Namibia, is promoted by Nestor Tobias’s MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing & Fitness Academy.

In the main event, WBO #6 ranked lightweight Moses (38-3, 23 KO) will risk his WBO Africa belt against Benoit Makangila Vela (12-0-1, 6 KO) in a 12-round bout. The unbeaten contender is representing the Democratic Republic of Congo. With a win, Moses could make one step towards to an eventual world title fight against current belt holder Terry Flanagan.

Featherweight Sakaria Lukas (18-0, 13KO) will defend his version of the WBO Africa belt against South Africa’s Oscar Chauke (35-11-3, 11 KO). The highly touted Sakaria is currently ranked #9 by the WBO.

Hard hitting Walter Kautondokwa (13-0, 12 KO) will face Med Sebyala (16-9-1, 13 KO) from Uganda. Kautondokwa is ranked #8 by the WBO and he is the current WBO Africa Middleweight champion.

Bantamweight Immanuel Naidjala (23-2-1, 13 KO) will step into the ring against Siboniso Gonya (10-1, 5 KO) from South Africa. Naidjala is the current WBO Inter-Continental champion and is ranked #5 by the very same organization.

Next to the four world rated pugilist, six more young prospects will show their speed off in preliminary bouts.

“The theme “Defending Namibia’s Pride” was motivated by the ongoing economic and social challenges facing our country, and our boxers will demonstrate their commitment by fighting these ills by defending Namibia’s pride in the sporting fraternity by continuing to raise our country’s flag high. Our Independence has a very sentimental value to our boxers, and that is why we will continue to celebrate Namibia’s Independence through boxing,” said promoter Nestor Tobias.

The event is going to take place at Ramatex Factory in the capital of Namibia and is sponsored by MTC. General tickets will sell for only N$50 while VIP tickets will sell for only N$300. Tickets are available to order at Compu ticket.
