Nathan Gorman continued his rise in the professional ranks with another win.
The Nantwich heavyweight had been set to fight two weeks ago in Leicester, at the Morningside Arena, on the undercard of Jack Catterall’s WBO Inter-Continental super-lightweight title defence against Ohara Davies.
But Gorman, who appeared to hurt his right hand the first round of his return, was ruled out after his opponent withdrew from the fight at the 11th-hour.
The 22-year-old was back in action, though, and moved to 14-0 with 11 early at the Brentwood Centre in Essex, London.
Gorman, who was on the end of some flurried words from his coach Ricky Hatton between rounds, laboured to victory over Kamil Sokolowski, exclusively live on BT Sport, as part of the supporting cast to Anthony Yarde’s bid to keep hold of his WBO Inter-Continental light-heavyweight title against Walter Gabriel Sequeira.
The fight between two fighters who have sparred and trained together in the past was something of a scrappy affair and ended with the referee handing Gorman the win on points by 79 points to 73 against the Pole.
And it appears that the injury to Gorman’s hand could keep the WBC International champion out of a potential title fight on the undercard of Josh Warrington’s IBF featherweight title defence against Carl Frampton on December 22, exclusively live on BT Sport Box Office, at Manchester Arena.
Meanwhile, Bradley Skeete got back to winning ways with a knockout victory.
The former British welterweight champion, who was iced inside two rounds by Kerman Lejarraga in Bilbao, Spain, when challenging for the vacant European title back in April, ended the challenge of 25-year-old Mexican Fernando Valencia inside the eight-round distance to advance to 28-2 with 13 early finishes.
Lucien Reid celebrated his birthday with a points win over Rafael Castillo and Boy Jones Jr. outpointed Lesther Cantillano by a margin of 60 points to 54.
And Caoimhin Agyarko made a successful start to life in the professional ranks with a win over Ladislav Nemeth.
