Just spoke with Top Rank matchmaker extraordinaire, Brad Goodman, and he has confirmed that former WBO junior welterweight world champion 'Mile High' Mike Alvarado will be facing New Mexico's Josh 'Pitbull' Torres on June 25th in Dallas, Texas.
The eight round welterweight fight will be televised by UniMas as part of Top Rank's Solo Boxeo series.
Torres was recently scheduled to fight former two division world champion Zab Judah in Las Vegas - but the entire card was cancelled when the Nevada State Athletic Commission determined that Judah and promoter Roy Englebrecht lied on their applications about Judah's child support debt.
Torres is a very respectable 15-4-2, 7 KOs and went 2-1 in 2015.
Alvarado is one fight into his comeback after a disappointing knockout defeat against Brandon Rios in the HBO televised rubber match of their trilogy, back in January of 2015. He stopped Saul Corral in March and will look to gain some momentum against Torres. Alvarado is 35-4, 24KOs.
