WBA welterweight champion Marcos Maidana (35-3, 31KOs) would love to get the opportunity to face Floyd Mayweather Jr. (45-0, 26KOs), the WBC's champion at 147-pounds. Mayweather is coming back on May 3rd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Maidana was in the running to face Mayweather, but those are likely put on hold after Adrien Broner (27-1, 22KOs) exercised a rematch clause with Maidana.

Maidana feels a lot of fighters are only interested in the money involved with a Mayweather fight, and not interested in actually winning. Maidana says a win over Mayweather is far more important than the money.

Last month, Maidana was a heavy underdog, but he pulled off an impressive victory and won a twelve round unanimous decision over Broner at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

The rematch could happen on April 19 or April 26.

"If we come to a good agreement, I would have no problems [facing Broner again]. I know it's difficult [to get a fight with Mayweather]. Everybody wants to fight him, not only for a challenge but also for the good [payday] that comes with fighting him. It would be nice to give me the opportunity. I would come to win. I would not come there just to grab a big purse, I would also come to win. Mayweather is not invincible, because no boxer is. He is very good, but everyone can lose because fights are fights," Maidana said.
