WBA interim-super middleweight champion Brian Magee (35-4-1, 24KOs) spoke to Newsletter about his scheduled fight with Danish star Rudy Markussen (37-2-1, 24KOs) in Copenhagen on February 18. Magee has no problem traveling. He flew to Costa Rica last July to win the interim-belt with a decision over Jaime Barboza, and in January 2010 he came to in Denmark to defeat Mads Larsen, which gave him the European title.

Magee has been in the ring with some of the best and doesn't fear the power of Markussen.

“He’s a hard hitter but I’ve been in with some of the hardest hitters in the world and it never fazes me. He will be very dangerous for the first half of the fight, so I will have to be careful. But he will not punch any harder as Lucian Bute or Carl Froch. This is a tough division and there are loads of good fighters in this division," Magee said.

The prize Magee wants is a bigger fight, in Denmark, with the biggest star in the country, Mikkel Kessler. Both Kessler and Markussen are promoted by Sauerland Event.

“Even though I’m 36, I still feel as though I’m a prospect. I feel I’ve got a big year to 20 months in front of me. Preparation has gone well so far and I am looking forward to the fight. They talked about that the last time I was over there for the Larsen fight. It is a possibility and I think a fight against Kessler makes good sense. It would be great to over there and beat their top guys. It helps hype up a fight against Kessler," Magee said.
