Former two division world champion Jorge "Golden Boy" Linares required several stitches on his face to close up the cuts that he suffered during Saturday's fight with Antonio DeMarco at Staples Center in Los Angeles. DeMarco stopped Linares at 2:32 of the eleventh, after referee Raul Caiz Sr. stopped the fight.

"I think that the referee was wrong, I still don't understand why he stopped the fight. He says it was the cuts and the blood, but they occurred several rounds back and never once was I asked to cleanse my face. There were moments where I was blind because of the amount of blood on my face, and I was forced to use my glove to clean it off and that often opens up a cut even more," Linares said to krikya360.com.

"DeMarco knows that he did not win....he just had a stroke of luck. I was never going to fall and that's why I started to exchange. I felt very well physically and we were ready to fight for fifteen rounds. He couldn't put me down and he knew it."

Linares' co-promoter, Golden Boy Promotions, will pursue an immediate rematch.
