Unbeaten heavyweight John Wesley Nofire will continue his gradual stepping up of opposition when he takes on Yasmany Consuegra on the Nov. 25 undercard to Erislandy Lara vs. Jan Zaveck in Hialeah, Florida, according to Ronnie Shields, the noted trainer who recently began working with Nofire.

Nofire, a 29-year-old originally from Oklahoma but billed more recently out of Miami, is 18-0 with 14 KOs. Only six of those wins came against opponents with winning records.

Consuegra, 31, is 17-2 with 14 KOs. Those two losses in his past two appearances seem to show Consuegra’s limit — he was stopped in three rounds by Dominic Breazeale in June and then finished in two rounds by Artur Szpilka in August.

It remains to be seen whether Nofire is also a level ahead of Consegrua, or whether Consegrua will be too large a step up for Nofire.
