The World Boxing Association's Championship Committee has ordered a bout in the super flyweight division between Britain's Khalid Yafai, who is the champion at the weight, and Japan's Sho Ishida, who is ranked number one at 115 pounds.

Article 11C of the World Championships Regulations states that a boxer has 120 days from the date he obtains the title for a mandatory match.

In the case of Yafai, who won his belt on December 10, 2016, this deadline expired on April 10, 2017.

For his part, Ishida became the main challenger to the British boxer thanks to his immaculate record of 24 victories with 13 knockouts, with no losses or draws. Although he has never fought for a world title, he was Japan's national champion at 115 pounds.

Both parties were duly notified on June 6 and have 30 days to reach an agreement, otherwise the confrontation will be called to a purse bid.

Ishida has never fought outside of Japan and knocked out three of his last four opponents, but has never faced anyone close to the level of Yafai.

Yafai (22-0, 14 KOs) captured the title last December with twelve round unanimous decision over division veteran Luis Concepcion. He retained the belt for the very fist time last month in Birmingham, with another twelve round unanimous decision over tough Japanese fighter Suguru Muranaka.
