Former world champions Juan Manuel "Juanma" Lopez and Roman "Rocky" Martinez, and the world featherweight contender Jonathan "Polvo" Oquendo, are ready for their tripleaheader which will be held on Saturday, October 1, at the Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum in Bayamon. The card will be presented by PR Best Boxing Promotions (PRBBP) and Top Rank Inc. on pay-per-view.
Lopez (30-1, 27 KOs) and Martinez (24-1-1, 15 KOs) and Oquendo (21-2, 14 KOs) will fight for regional titles at 126, 130 and 122 pounds, respectively, on the show.
Lopez will headline the show in a bout for the WBO Latino featherweight title against Mike Oliver, who has 25-2 record with eight knockouts. Lopez returns from his eight round stoppage loss to Orlando Salido on April 16th.
"I wish this fight was a rematch against Salido, but because of things on the business end, with the television, it's not happening, but that is what I want - revenge. Now, I'm going to fight a good fighter like Mike Oliver and I'm getting ready to box, but also to fight, and to prove to Puerto Rico that I can be champion again," Juanma said.
In the co-feature, "Rocky" Martinez, the former WBO super featherweight king, returns after a minor layoff to face Mexico's Ramon Maas (25-1, 15 KOs) for the WBO Intercontinental title at 130 pounds.
"I've gone a year without fighting, but I will recover what I've lost - you'll see. I'm facing a good opponent but I'm always ready for challenges and I will be world champion again," said Martinez.
In the other co-feature, Oquendo, who is ranked third by the WBO at 122-pounds, will take part in a WBO super bantamweight eliminator against Looknongyantoy Sod of Thailand, with a record of 51-2-1 and 21 knockouts.
"I'm very anxious. I going against a good opponent, who reminds me of (Eden) Sonsona, and elusive fighter, but that we will work to win and then go for the world title and become world champion, "said Oquendo.
