Former world champion Juan Carlos Reveco bounced back with a ten round unanimous decision over Dominican contender Diego Pichardo Liriano to capture the vacant flyweight Latino title of the International Boxing Federation (IBF).

The event was held at the Polideportivo Municipal Malal Hue in the city of Malargüe, south of Mendoza, where the three judges, Oscar Torres, Hugo and Jorge Vainesman Garayo scored the fight 100-89 in favor of Reveco.

Reveco returned to action after 11 months of inactivity following his knockout loss to Kazuto Ioka in their rematch which was held in Osaka, Japan - where they battled for the WBA flyweight world title on New Year's Eve.

From the beginning of the contest, Reveco took control with his good boxing ability and was digging to the body with hard hooks. He scored a knockdown at the end of the sixth round with a powerful right cross.

Despite his dominance, Mendoza ended the fight with cut in the left eyelid. The cuts on Reveco's eyebrows have become a serious problem in his career. Reveco (34-3, 19 KOs), 33 years old, with this victory will be placed in the rankings of the flyweight division under the IBF, where the title is vacant.

Reveco has gone 2-2 in his last four fights, but those two defeats both came at the hands of Ioka. The first defeat last April was viewed as a controversial decision by the sanctioning body and they ordered a rematch. Prior those defeats, his last setback came in 2007.
