Jorge Linares is on the comeback trail after suffering back to back losses in late 2011 and last year that really halted his career’s momentum. He’s now on the hunt for a title shot again and is working with a new trainer Ismael Salas in Las Vegas.
While Linares has his eyes set on becoming a champion again, he also still wants to avenge his loss to Antonio DeMarco. It was a fight in where Linares was outclassing his opponent but DeMarco fought his way back into the fight and stopped Linares late in an upset classic.
Linares wanted to let his fans and everyone know that he still wants that fight and he’d take in a heartbeat if they offered it to him.
“I know they are waiting for my big fight for a world title and there’s still a lot of talk of a rematch with Antonio DeMarco. I’ve always said whenever and wherever I’ll do it. I don’t have a problem. I can’t say it was a bad night but it’s just things that happen in boxing. I wish him the best and he had his opportunity to make his defense. That’s how the boxing world is where you learn how to win and lose but if we get the opportunity to fight him why not take it” expressed Linares.
Despite the losses he suffered, Linares skill is still undeniable and he plans to continue working hard and get back to the top of the division.
“I’m working hard and waiting on the opportunities to be able to crown myself a world champion again. Thanks to everyone and hopefully something good comes soon” said Linares.
A July 19th return date is the target at the moment but a fight in September is also a possibility for Linares’ next fight.
