Inselparkhalle, Wilhelmsburg, Hamburg - WBA interim-junior welterweight champion Jack Culcay won a twelve round unanimous decision over Dennis Hogan. The scores were 117-111, 116-112, 119-109.

For Culcay, the 2009 world amateur champion, "E" means anything but Entertainment, most probably - Elusiveness. Elusiveness was a keyword for Culcay (21-1, 10 KOs), who retained his semi-prestigious regalia with a workmanlike yet convincing win over previously undefeated Australian Hogan (22-1-1, 7 KOs).

Hogan, a typical Irish fighter (who was born in Kildare, Eire), related more on his spirit and constant pressure than on his technical skills. He did show some in stalking Culcay in the opening rounds but Hogan's lack of hastiness compiled with limited punching power made it impossible for him to connect to the Golden Jack cleanly. The latter used his upper body movement and excellent jab to control Hogan and his activities.

Culcay, 30 for both him and Hogan, got better in the closing rounds and rocked faded Hogan several times to punctuate his excellent technical performance. Still the aforementioned sentence is valid, since no one was clearly impressed with technically flawless but still very workmanlike showing. Final scores were: 116-112, 117-111 and 119-109 - for the German fighter.

WBC #5, IBF #14 and WBA #15 heavyweight Kubrat Pulev (22-1, 12 KOs) continued his comeback after the crushing loss to Wladimir Klitschko a year ago by knocking out American veteran journeyman (and former fringe contender) Maurice Harris (26-21-3, 11 KOs) with a single body shot in round one. The Bulgarian heavyweight previously won a decision over George Arias in October. Harris has been knocked out in the first for the second time in a row.

Heavyweight contender Dereck Chisora (23-5, 15KOs) made his promotional debut with Team Sauerland, as he stopped Peter Edos (9-9) in the fifth round of a stay-busy fight. Chisora and career promoter Frank Warren parted aways a few weeks ago.

Chisora has now won three fights in a row since getting stopped by current heavyweight king Tyson Fury a year ago in London.

Heavyweight Adrian Granat (10-0, 9 KOs) knocked out 40-year-old Michael Sprott (42-25, 17 KOs) in round one.
