WBO bantamweight world champion Jason Moloney will be glued to his television screen when Takuma Inoue defends his WBA belt in the same division against Jerwin Ancajas tomorrow in Tokyo, Japan.

Inoue and Ancajas join a world title triple header which also involves Junto Nakatani challenging Alexandro Santiago for his WBC belt. 

“That’s a hard one to pick to be honest with you,” Moloney said in an exclusive interview, discussing Ancajas and Inoue. “I think that is definitely a 50/50 fight. Ancajas hasn’t been very active of late. He obviously struggled in his last two fights at super flyweight against [Fernando] Martinez. So, I would probably just about Inoue because of that.”

Inoue claimed his WBA belt with a wide unanimous-decision against Liborio Solis last April and he makes his first defense in Tokyo tomorrow. 

Ancajas ruled as IBF super flyweight champion from 2016 to 2022 until he lost his belt to Martinez in back-to-back fights. He has the chance to become a two weight world champion if successful in the Japanese capital. 

“I think this is the one fight on the card that could go either way,” Moloney added. “Takuma does have a bit of trouble with southpaws. He obviously lost in his first world title shot against Nordine Oubaali, who I think is about the same level of fighter as Ancajas. 

“It will be interesting to see if Takuma has improved since then. I do think he maybe just wins it on points, but I certainly don’t think it is a clear cut victory. I don’t think he stops him, I don’t think he dominates him, but I think he just might pick it up on points.”
