Up until this past weekend Eric "The Outlaw" Hunter (17-2) had no idea who he would be facing on September 13th at Harrahs Casino in Chester, PA LIVE WORLDWIDE on GFL.tv.  With time ticking away, promoters Joey Eye and David Feldman were running out of options. "They had a couple fights lined up like Victor Sanchez who is 5-6 but I told them I didn't want to fight anyone that was 5-6.  That's the fight they wanted me to fight.  Then I tried to fight Guy Robb.  He turned it down.  They said he didn't have enough accolades to fight." explained Hunter.

After Sanchez and Robb were out of the picture, they turned to crafty veteran Mike Oliver.  Even though Oliver lost his only two fights in 2013, don't let the loses fool you because the were razor thin controversial decision against former IBF champion Billy Dib and fellow Australian Joel Brunkner (26-0).  Many ringside observers favored Oliver in both fights.  Hunter did not seem phased by the crafty veteran's style " see that he is a front runner.  He likes to fight in the ropes.  He doesn't like to fight in the center of the ring.  He like to tie you up, punch, hit, and cry when you trow him to the ground or do something nasty to him.  He don't like that."

Hunter, who watched tape between Dib & Oliver, was not impressed that it was a close contest.  Hunter, who thought he was going to fight Dib on multiple occasions, lashed out about the former champion. "He sucks.  I can't really speak on Billy Dib.  I can't be like let me watch Billy Dib.  Billy Dib is really irrelevant.  Only reason he was relevant then was because he had the belt.  He should have never had the belt because he has no skills at all."

"I was supposed to fight him for the IBF title but he chose someone else and he lost to that dude Gradovich.  Then they asked me to fight him again when he was fighting Mike Oliver but then I didn't get a call back."

Undeterred by the inactivity after his huge win against Belemontes, Hunter continued to wait for his next fight hoping to make a statement again.  A win over Mike Oliver will position him in the rankings closer to a possible title shot, where he believes he should be.  After his former opponent Luis Franco had a draw in his title shot against Javier Fortuna, Hunter vented his frustrations "That is the fight I am looking for Luis Franco.  He can't beat me.  He is lucky I took the fight on 8 days notice.  Everyone knows I can't beat anyone in the division."

Hunter is fully aware that this fight could be do or die for Mike Oliver.  After dropping 3 straight fights, two of which albeit questionable, a fourth could be a curtain call for the former IBO champion.  Can the former champion pull off one more great performance?  Hunter sure is not looking past him. "I am not looking past Oliver.  I am looking to get the belt and the ranking.  Though if I want to fight anyone after it would be Billy Dib."
