At Bowlers Exhibition Centre in Manchester, England - Another and much bigger upset took place in the main event, as Frenchman Frank Haroche Horta (27-9-5, 9 KOs) showed relentless physique and honorable determination in an eight-round drubbing of previously undefeated Irish boxer Dean Byrne (15-1, 6 KOs).

Former amateur star Byrne, who competed all over the world, including Australia, Ireland and America, wasn't prepared for the beating he took at the hands of Horta. Not a big puncher by any means, the French fighter used a good defense to neglect a number of Byrne's punches. He also relied on his granite chin, when defense wasn't enough. Byrne was throwing more but he didn't sit enough on his punches, so the effect was neglectable. He was eating a steady diet of leather at the same time. Horta peppered his jab right into Irishman's face and he was very successful in doing so. Byrne also injured his hand in the heat of the fight, and after a few more one-sided rounds his corner made a wise move of calling it quits. A big win for Horta, who was supposed to fight Franke Gavin earlier.

In the TV-opener of a small show promoted by Frank Warren at Bowlers Exhibition Centre in Manchester, England, Bulgarian upset specialist Alexey Ribchev (12-3, 3 KOs) scored a surprise decision over comebacking British slugger Matthew Hall (23-4, 16 KOs) in a battle of light middleweights. Ribchev, 29, looked like the stronger man in the first couple of rounds. Hall, bleeding from a cut over his forehead, enjoyed a strong rally in the middle of the fight but the end was Ribchev's once again. Hall, just 27, who took a year off since his loss to Lukas Konecny in 2010, looked a spent bullet against a deserving opponent. He is well adviced to retire for good. The score was 59-57 for Ribchev
