Another main event on FOX attracted more than one million viewers Saturday night.

Nielsen Media Research released data Tuesday that indicated an average of 1,004,000 viewers watched the Tony Harrison-Bryant Perrella fight. Viewership peaked at 1,125,000 during the 12-round draw split between Harrison and Perrella.

An overall average of 813,000 viewers watched FOX’s three-fight telecast from Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles.

Nielsen’s numbers include only those that watched this boxing broadcast on linear television because Nielsen doesn’t track streaming viewership. FOX, like ESPN and Showtime, does not release streaming totals, which increasingly account for a significant number of viewers.

Detroit’s Harrison (28-3-1, 21 KOs) was consistently listed as a 5-1 favorite over Perrella (17-3-1, 14 KOs), who moved up from the welterweight division for their junior middleweight match. Harrison got off to a strong start, but Perrella, a southpaw from Fort Myers, Florida, withstood Harrison’s hardest shots and pushed the former WBC super welterweight champion throughout their close contest.

Judge Max De Luca scored their fight for Harrison, 116-112. Judge Lou Moret credited Perrella with a 117-111 win.

Judge Zachary Young scored it a draw, 114-114.

The 30-year-old Harrison fought for the first time Saturday night since Jermell Charlo knocked him out in the 11th round of their 154-pound championship rematch in December 2019 at Toyota Arena in Ontario, California. Harrison upset Houston’s Charlo (34-1, 18 KOs) by unanimous decision to win the WBC super welterweight title in December 2018 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

The co-feature of FOX’s tripleheader Saturday night, Omar Juarez’s victory over Elias Araujo, was watched by an average audience of 761,000. The 21-year-old Juarez (11-0, 5 KOs), a junior welterweight prospect from Brownsville, Texas, beat Argentina’s Araujo (21-3, 8 KOs) by wide distances on all three scorecards (99-91, 99-91, 98-92).

The opener of FOX’s telecast, James Martin’s upset of welterweight prospect Vito Mielnicki Jr., drew an average of 697,000 viewers. Philadelphia’s Martin (7-2, 0 KOs) out-boxed Mielnicki and won an eight-round majority decision (79-73, 77-75, 76-76).

The 18-year-old Mielnicki, of Roseland, New Jersey, lost for the first time as a pro (8-1, 5 KOs).
