The Christina Hammer vs Ann Sophie Mathis fight, from Saturday night in Dessau, went ahead with two titles at stake: the vacant WBO super welterweight title and the WBFed title held by Mathis.
As it was, Hammer won on a fifth round disqualification when Mathis was ruled out after what was called illegal punches to the back of Hammer´s head.
The WBFed have now reacted to a protest from Mathis and her manager Christel Ajoux and declared the fight a No Contest and recommend a rematch and Ann Sophie Mathis is still WBFed super welterweight champion. In a statement the WBFed says the punches landed were legal and that Mathis should have been declared the winner by KO.
It is not known if the WBO will take any action.
