Unbeaten southpaw featherweight Gary Russell Jr. of Capitol Heights, MD., will pursue his 11th knockout and his 17th win without a loss when he meets the twice-beaten Paul Truscott of England on the undercard of the July 23 main event featuring WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan of England against southpaw IBF titlist Zab Judah of Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas, according to a report by Ryan Maquiñana of MaxBoxing.com/Comcast SportsNet.
The 23-year-old Russell (16-0, 10 KOs) is coming off of a June 17 fourth-round knockout of 28-year-old southpaw Antonio Meza (24-10-1, 16 KOs) of Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, whom he floored once in the third round and twice in the fourth.
The 25-year-old Truscott is 17-2-2, with with two knockouts, having won his past four bouts, one of them by stoppage.
Truscott has been knocked out in the eighth, and, 10th rounds, respectively, by Scotland's 27-year-old John Simpson (22-8, nine KOs) in January and September of 2009.
The 24-year-old Khan is 25-1, with 17 knockouts, and the 33-year-old Judah, a Bronx native, is 41-6, with 28 knockouts.
