IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch is fully focused on securing former opponent Mikkel Kessler for a rematch in England later this year and believes that promoter Eddie Hearn can deliver him the fight he craves.

The 34 year-old, who has just two defeats on a world title-laden record, is eager to avenge one of those losses to the Dane from April 2010 in Denmark and is hoping to have the fight sealed in the next fortnight.

"Mikel Kessler is the fight I want,” Froch told Sky Sports News. “I think Eddie Hearn had a meeting with his promoters this week and they're getting slowly there.

"There are a lot of things that have to be done in the background in order to make a fight happen. His team have got to be happy and we've got to be happy.

"We're talking about getting them over to England which is always difficult to sign a contract. Things are moving forward and hopefully in the next two weeks we'll have an announcement to make.

"It was a great fight for the boxing fan and the general public who like to watch a good old scrap, and a rematch will be the same but with a different result.

“I'm definitely going to beat Kessler, especially if it is in England as well,” added Froch.

Kessler, 33, is on the comeback from a serious eye injury that had threatened his career and was ringside to witness Froch’s impressive demolition job on Lucian Bute last month.

The Dane told Sky on the night that he was willing to travel to Froch’s home soil to seal the return and if monetary terms can run smoothly, there is no reason for the fight not to happen again later in the year.
