The British Boxing Board of Control has announced that Frankie Gavin (11-0, 8KOs) has withrawn from the opportunity to face Adnan Amar (24-1, 7KOs) for the BBBofC English welterweight title. Gavin was nominated for a shot by the BBBoC but promoter Frank Warren made it pretty clear that he does not believe Gavin is ready to face an opponent with the experience of Amar.
The BBBoC also recently announced that Colin Lynes has also taken a pass on facing Amar for the title. The Nottingham champion Amar hopes to fight on October 8th at the Ponds Forge Arena in Sheffield on the Kell Brook vs Rafal Jackiewicz undercard, with no opponent announced so far.
“The last few months have been frustrating, I have seen fights fall through on the day or day before I’m due to fight.”
