Golden Boy Promotions recently announced that they are close to reaching an agreement to match WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner against former junior middleweight champion Marcos Maidana.

There is no love lost between the two fighters as they have engaged in numerous exchanges on Twitter and also had a confrontation in Las Vegas during fight week for the Floyd Mayweather-Canelo Alvarez fight.

Maidana is normally very reserved and respectful towards his opponents but repeatedly told the press, "F*** Broner! F*** Broner!"

Hopefully Broner can take a real 147 punch from Maidana. That's the real test in this fight. Alexander and Kahn have already shown being disciplined and boxing with Maidana can get the victory, but mixing it up, as Kahn started to do in his fight and Josesito got crushed for, can make it a long night for Broner. He won't be in there with a light puncher as he was in his last bout. This fight should play out just as Mayweather v. Canelo if Broner takes him seriously.

Good to hear Maidana is planning to jab more. Against Soto Karass he threw some heavy jabs that really hurt el renuente, it was the key to win the fight. The Lopez fight was a little step back in terms of style.

I think this is a 50/50 fight, Maidana got white washed against the one elite guy he faced at welter and seemed very vulnerable before finishing strong against Soto Karass and Lopez.Broner on the other hand looked mediocre against a washed up Magic man and didn't appear to bring his power up in weight with him.

I hope Maidana wins by KO, but I have seen Maidana get hurt, his opponents have not been able to finish him. Maybe Broner can finish him off.

Well Timing beats speed. In this case it will be an uphill battle to get to Broner whom Maidana is neither faster than, nor better at timing. Good news for Maidana is he only has to time 1 punch to win. I think he can finish Broner off if he hurts him mid rounds, but outside of that 9-3rds Broner UD
