For all of those who said that it was a major dissapointment, i really have to suggest replaying it. Im two listens through and have enjoyed it both times, now granted replay value comes into hand so as weeks pass I will finalize my review but for now It has to be another Ye gem. Better than Late Registration IMO.
Good Morning Intro- Interesting opener, dope beat. This intro has a cool vibe to it and doesnt feel like another Chapter of the Dropout, Late Reg saga. It just sounds like the start to a brand new Kanye effort. 8.5/10
Champion- Fresh sample thats not to played out. Has that Ye vibe to it, kinda funky and gives the album a lighter fresh feeling, defintly fitting for the 2nd track. Lyrics are lyrics, Kanye is on point at times but tapers off like he usually does. Dope track... 8.5/10
Stronger- Played out to most by now, but going for a first listen, fantastic sample one of a kind . Great vibe to the track, was Ye's summer smash. Although Im past it from endless play it still is one of his finer tracks. 9/10
I Wonder- Reminds of a John Legend track at its start but it plays into a repetive sample before the track kicks into gear. Synth heavy back drop with some heavy drums, not a bad track just not my personal style. Little to similar to Champion IMO. 6/10
Good Life-feat T-Pain My favorite track on this effort so far. Not a T-Pain fan but Kanye made him work and fit so well. Great high pitched sample Ye's bread an butter with a unique synth and great vibe. It has everything for a hit. I smell Fall song? Feelin this, off the hook for sure. 9/10
Cant Tell Me Nothing- Great song, has been around for a while but gave you the vibe for the album when it dropped. Leads you to beleive the album is taking a serious turn. If it was the first time I heard it Id say best track on album but I played the **** out of this record. 9/10
Barry Bonds feat. Lil Wayne- Beat grew on me, kinda simple with a weird twist of sounds blended up in the background. Its the "lyrical display" track for Ye and linking up Wayne with him has to work right? Wayne isnt to "LIKE" heavy but its not his strongest work. Song works if your chillen but can be skipped.- 7/10
Drunk and Hot Girls feat. Mos Def- Wasnt feelin it to vibe has a childish feel to it at first but the beat is laced with a darker edge and sound. Just not my favorite track but I can listen to it. Highlight of the track is when the beat drops and Mos ballads over it. - 6/10
Flashing Lights feat. Dwele- Like the backdrop to the track, fantastic drum work and hook. Gives off a night life feel, Synth can be looked at as a big corny but it works for me, strings bless the verses and gives this track a nice Night Life feel.- 8/10
Everything I Am- Had to have a great soft Ye track and this did the job. Scratches by DJ Premier, cant fail for me. Loved this ****, it had a dope NYC feel to it with some soul on top. Awsome effort for real. 9/10
The Glory- High pitched sample once again, choir work, reminds me of College Dropout tracks. Nice to be brought back to that era, it has a Common verse written all over it but we dont get one. Nice ****, loved the lyrics with it to.- 8/10
Homecoming feat. Chris Martin- Martin sings a dazzling hook, Ye and Martin seem to work well toghther, Id love to see the credits on it. Its a powerfulish track that doesnt seem to get repetive. Enjoyed the feel on this one. 7.5/10
Big Brother- The last track, and Kanye doesnt let down. Lyrics with Dame and Jay and the Roc, just another Kanye telling a story. Interesting to hear whats going on with the Roc and Dame, lighter synth good feelin to it. Drums weak and slow paced but it works for this one. - 8/10
Overall a little synth heavy I have to say but fantastic. Kanye has a gift musically and Graduation shows this for sure, do your selfs a favor and check this out.
