If it wasn't for Fedor. (who's unfortunately a major obstacle in his career right now), I'm convinced that Nogueira would still be #1 in Pride fc today.
He was struggling a lot vs Mirko Filipovic and subbed the guy when everything seemed to be lost..But He still won in the end.
I don't know how He'd do in a rematch vs Mirko , but what I do know is that He's a very endurant mofo. We're in 2006 now, and Nogueira's ground technics haven't aged a bit. He's still extremely dangerous whenever the fight ends up on the ground.
And His stamina is just unreal too.
Today in mma, you have to be well rounded , such as Gsp , Bj Penn, Gomi etc. In order to make it big.
Nogueira hasn't changed much though. (maybe his boxing is slighly better) However, even though He's not as Multidimensional as those guys , He's still a machine imo.
If this guy manages to get your ass on the ground, You can be assured that He'll try all sorts of sub attempts without slowing down one bit. He's a real pain in the ass for anyone. No matter how big you are. even if you have a weight advantage, It won't change a thing.
Even Fedor, was getting tired in his third fight vs Nogueira..You can clearly see that He was exhausted ,especially cause Nog's killer grip drains anyone's energy.
He could very well win this year's OW grand prix imo. He has the best chances on his side.
Nogueira in a limitless round sanctioned fight would own all.
